Hello! This week the TGIF challenge is designer take over and the designer Andrea Tracy-Tucker has a fun challenge, farmhouse chic. What a fun challenge and wait till you see what the designers have created!
I started with the sending hugs bundle that I die cut with basic white card stock and then also die cut the letters (I love that they included this die to have the letters individually). I wanted the word HUGS to look like it was metal and so after I die cut them I squished them in versamark ink pad and then dipped in silver embossing powder and while the powder was still melted I dipped it 2 more times and heated it both times to build up a thick layer of melted embossing powder. This is so fun! Just be careful because the melted powder will stay hot for a few minutes and will burn your fingers. I suggest using a clothes pin to hold the image while heating and dipping. If you want you can make the layer very smooth and shiny however, I wanted a little texture so I didn't let it get to smooth.
For the background layer of the card I swiped my crumb cake ink pad across a piece of coastal cabana card stock cut to card front size. I think this looks like a weathered piece of wood.
The sand dollar is from the friends are like seashells bundle. I stamped it with saddle brown staz on ink and because this is permanent ink I was able to water color it with some of the crumb cake ink. The greeting was stamped with jet black staz on ink. In the catalog they only show the picture of the black ink but if you look at the numbers to order you will see the brown listed as well. I like having an option other than black to water color with.
I wrapped linen thread a few times and tied in a knot to finish the card. Thank you so much for checking out my card. I had so much fun with this challenge and I hope you will give this challenge a try as well. Hope you come back soon!
