Hi, I am so glad you joined me today. I have great news, a few weeks ago I posted a card on the hand stamped sentiments challenge to be considered for one of the new designer positions that they had open. Guess what? I was one of the stampers picked! I am so honored to be apart of this group of super talented designers! Somebody pinch me! Today is my first post as part of their group. The picture below is the inspiration for the challenge. I immediately was drawn to the gorgeous background. So I tried to replicate it with water painters and ink refills. The colors I used were mossy meadow, pool party and misty moonlight. I first spritzed the watercolor paper and then dropped in color using my water painter. I waited until that dried and then added a second layer of color for some depth.
Then using the pine branch from the evergreen elegance stamp set, I inked up the stamp and then using my water painter again swiped over the stamp to get the color moving. This gives the most beautiful results, soft and subtle. The amount of water you use really gives a different effect. I then let that dry and then the fun of splatter. I am really into splatter right now. Using my water painter I picked up ink and tapped it off to create the splatter. I did that with misty moonlight and white ink refill. I also like to go in with my white chalk marker and put a few intentional dots of white where I think they should go.
I finished off with the greeting in soft suede, this I used the stamparatus because the watercolor paper has so much texture I had to stamp a few times. I finished the card with a few artistry blooms sequins and pearl basic jewels. Thank you so much for stopping by! I am really excited to share more with this amazing group of stampers at the hand stamped sentiment challenges. I have followed their fabulous blog for years and to be apart of it is a dream. Join along with what inspired you from this cute snowy scene. I look forward to seeing them.
Congratulations on your DT spot Patti! Your card this week is gorgeous. When I watercolour a background it usually ends up a hot mess and nowhere near as beautiful and artistic as this - I love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Joanne, thank you so much! I am so excited to be part of this amazing group. Thank you also for the kind compliment! I love to watercolor and am always learning something new especially the way the colors blend and a lot of the time I also end up with a hot mess. Have a beautiful day!
