Welcome back to another fun color challenge over at the hand stamped sentiments blog. As soon as I saw these colors I couldn't wait to stamp the new Easter friends stamp set. I started with a piece of shimmery white card stock and stamped the duck in black staz on ink. This is a great ink for water coloring since it is a permanent ink. My pad is a little dry and that worked well because it was not super dark. I used my water painter and water color pencils to color (using the challenge colors, daffodil for his body, pumpkin for his beak and feet and petal pink for the cheeks.) After it dried I wanted a little darker color and so I used an ink refill for the shadow areas. The artist that designed this stamp made it very easy to know just where to put the darker colors, where the multiply lines are drawn.
For the background I used balmy blue and a quick water color wash with my painters to add a little color. For the grass area I used the stamp in pear pizzazz and then washed over it with my water painter to give a water color look. Then I added little dots of petal pink to give the illusion of flowers in the field of grass. I just finally ordered the horizon dies and couldn't wait to play with them so I added a little fence with in good taste dsp. The sentiment I stamped with soft suede. If you noticed the duck has been fussy cut out and I attached it to the panel. I did stamp the duck on the original panel, however the color I stamped it with I did not like, but I still liked the background and I didn't want to start over. Remember, you can always make it work, just keep going. I would have put dimensionals on the back of the duck however, you could see the other duck behind so I glued him flat. I did use dimensionals on the fence. I still am very happy with the scene and can't wait to see what you do with these colors. I hope you have time to play along with our challenge. Have a great day!
