No line watercoloring

Hello! Today for my watercolor Wednesday I decided to give no line watercoloring a try. It was kind of a struggle but for my first time I am pretty happy with it. One thing I will remember for next time is to keep it light from the beginning. It is hard to lighten watercoloring after it dries. I used watercolor paper and stamped with sahara sand ink. I should have stamped it off so that it would be lighter. (stamping off is stamping on scrap paper and then stamping on the watercolor paper so that the image is lighter) Then I used ink refills that I had put on an acrylic block and using my water painters started to add color. I wet one petal at a time, skipping every other petal so they would not bleed. Then I would put the most concentrated ink on the inside of the petal letting the color blend out with the water. I also added lighter ink to give some dimension.

After the petals started to dry I did go in with darker colors to add the shadows. This is when I realized my colors were to dark to start. I added a few lines of white chalk marker to give more highlights. I stamped the greeting with stazon black ink.I would highly recommend a stamparatus for the greeting since the water color paper has so much texture. I had to stamp it a few times to get the words dark and crisp. All in all I am pretty happy with this. I will give it a try again. I would recommend starting with a large image and one that had not a lot of detail. Thank you for stopping by today! Give no line watercoloring a try! Let me know what tricks you find. Have a blessed rest of your week.

Happy Easter!

He Has Risen! What a blessing! What a blessing that we are able to go to church, even if it is outdoors here in Southern California after this long year of the virus. Hope is in sight with the vaccination being given to so many and the numbers finally going down. I pray for all of you who are struggling with affects from it and anyone who has lost anyone to this horrible thing. Have faith and rejoice that they are spending Easter with Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Happy Holy Saturday

I made a few Easter cards and so I wanted to share them before Easter. I love the happy birthday chick bundle for Easter cards. This card was mostly made with scraps I had on my desk. It came together pretty quickly.

I had a few scraps of card stock that were run through with the tile tin embossing folder (I know this was on the retired list and could possibly be sold out already) but you could use any embossing folder. I colored the chicken with stampin blends. The "happy Easter" is from arrange a wreath bundle (one thing that I would get before it retires! I stamped it on in good taste dsp (so glad to see this in the new catalog!) Have a blessed day! Thank you for stopping by.

Blue Bird

Growing up in Minnesota I always loved in the spring when I would see the colorful blue birds. Now that I am in California I find I really miss that about the spring time. So I created a blue bird for myself. I think the way that the stampin blends made this sweet little bird come to life. I created a background for my bird with a quick watercolor wash of stripes for my watercolor Wednesday. It was so easy with the wide water painterfluid 100 watercolor paper and balmy blue ink refill.

What else did I use to create this card?

To create the flowers and branch I stamped with stazon black ink on the vellum and colored the back with stampin blends, then fussy cut them out. Thank you for stopping by today! And if you see a blue bird think of me! Have a blessed day!

Spring!

Happy Holy Week! This is the week before Easter Sunday if you are not aware of what Holy Week is. A somber week looking forward to Jesus rising from the dead for us! How blessed we are to have a friend like Jesus! How great is His friendship! Today's card I spent some time relaxing and coloring with stampin blends. What do you like to craft while relaxing?

What did I use on my project today?

The texture with the embossing folder really makes the wood looking paper come to life and I love the feel of the wood grain.

Thanks for stopping by today and have a blessed Holy Week!

Happy Birthday Spring Chick

Hello! So glad you are here. Time for another watercolor Wednesday. I am having so much fun with the hey birthday chick bundle. I love these little chicks. Aren't they so adorable. I used my water painters and a few ink refills to quickly color them and did a fun watercolor wash for the background. I applied ink with a few markers on the clear block H and then spritzed it with water. Then I placed it on a piece of fluid 100 watercolor paper. I let it sit for a few minutes to let the ink absorb. Then gently removed it. I had enough ink still on it that I made another impression and I will create another card. No sense in wasting the ink.

I love how the colors blend on the acrylic block. The other supplies I used:

Thanks for stopping by today! Don't forget to check out the retired list. You will want to get things before they are gone forever.  Have a blessed day!
