Another take on emboss resist!

Aren't these leaves beautiful stamped and embossed in silver and gold? I have been on a kick to make beautiful, quick cards! Don't get me wrong I do love to spend time creating elaborate cards yet lately my stamping mojo has been nonexistent. So when that happens I like to go back to the basics. If I try to hard to make a card with several layers I just feel like it just is not coming together. I stamped  and embossed each leaf separately so that the embossing powders did not mix.

Once again, since I still had the fall colors out I used them. This greeting is one of my favorites! It is from the country home stamp set. It is such a great reminder to just be thankful. Thankful for all the stamps that I have to create with, thankful for all the coloring mediums that I have and the hands and fingers to create with. Also, thankful for eyes that I can see all the beautiful colors that God has created in nature to enjoy. All things that God creates are good and
I am so thankful! I am also so thankful for you coming to visit my blog and for all the amazing friends that I have met in this crafting industry! Enjoy! Have a great week!

Just a quick post to show you the penguins I made for my card.  I had some card stock cut from my stamp club a few weeks ago and so I made a few cards. I made a few changes to this one. I added the dots with sponged on shimmer paint (frost white) and then after stamping the scarves I covered the piece with shimmery crystal effects. I love the look and the dimension that it added!

I can't wait to try this on so many more things! Enjoy this beautiful day!

Emboss Resist

Hello! So glad that you are here to visit me today!  Since I have had my fall colors out on my desk I will be sharing a few ideas with these amazing colors that make me so happy!  This is a simple card that I created with the winter woods stamp set. I heat embossed in white the group of trees on whisper white card stock.  I then did a little emboss resist. If you are not familiar with this technique it is very simple but a great reveal at the end. After heat embossing your image you sponge with ink color over the image. The image pops!

The colors I used were pumpkin pie, so saffron and old olive. I keep the color very soft but you could add more ink if you would like  bolder color. I sprinkled a little plain water with a paint brush and then placed a paper towel on top to remove the color. The texture this adds to the background is so nice and subtle.  One little secret that I have about this card is that when I stamped the trees they were not straight and so I hid that with the big, bold greeting. You can almost always fix any mistake while stamping. No need to throw it away and start over!
Enjoy your day and spend some time coloring! Blessings!

Finally back

Hi stampers! I am sorry for my lack of blogging lately, my mom has been in need of my help and so family duties have taken my time. But I am back! So excited for the daily marker 30 color challenge. My challenge to myself is to relax through my coloring! I love anything that has color, markers, pencils, paints, etc. My happy place is creating! I am really loving the fall color scheme right now.

Fall colors are so warm and inviting! The large leaf in the gather together stamp set is a great size for watercoloring.  I stamped in versamark ink on watercolor paper and embossed with gold embossing powder.  I added some dazzling diamonds to my gold embossing powder to add extra sparkle.

Unfortunately this picture does not show the amazing sparkle that is achieved with the glitter added. I did a quick wash of color into each leaf. I thought about adding a second layer of color after it had dried but I really liked the way the colors bleed into each other and so I decided to leave it.

I contemplated so many different ideas for the greeting and then just decided to keep it a plain and simple one layer card by stamping the greeting in old olive on the watercolor paper.  I suggest a stamp aligning tool for stamping a greeting on watercolor paper.  Since the paper is so textured you will need to stamp it a few times to get good coverage.  Thank you for visiting my blog and let me know what you think of my fall card.  Do you think that I should have added another layer of color? Enjoy and have a blessed weekend!

Birch trees

The birch trees from the winter woods stamp set are so beautiful! I could resist (haha get the play on words) using it embossed in white! I used the crumb cake cardstock for the base. I wanted the trees to pop even more and so I sponged crumb cake ink first and then because that was not enough of a pop I used espresso ink. That gave me the pop that I was looking for.
Thank you for visiting my blog and taking the time to read.  Let me know what you think of my birch trees.

Enjoy and blessings for a beautiful day!

My cardinal and gold penguins

Who doesn't love a cute little penguin? I have loved penguins for as long as I could remember! So when I saw this set in the holiday catalog I couldn't pass it up! These are the cutest little guys with so much personality! I made this card for my stamp club member last week and after I made it I realized they are cardinal and gold penguins. Both my husband and I graduated from University of Southern California and our youngest is a senior there! So when I made this card and saw that I made their scarves cardinal and gold I immediately thought of USC.

Don't these 2 just make the cutest little friends ever? They look like they are ready for a big football game, sporting their school colors. Making a card with extra sentimental meaning is always fun.
Now to get to a few things about the making of this card. One trick I found when stamping the penguins is not to press to hard on the faces because then you lose the detail of there faces.
I wanted to add a little look of snow so I very lightly sponged the new basic pattern decorative mask (dots) with smoky slate. Very lightly is the key. I think it added a little more dimension to the card.

I also added a bow with the polka dot tulle ribbon just because I love all things that match and that matched my dots from the stencil. Also one other tip was I placed both the penguins on my block size E together. So then I was able to stamp them at the same time. That is one of the advantages of having stamps that you take on and off the blocks. You are able to combine and stamp once with a few images.
Thank you for stopping by today and checking out what I have created.
Have a blessed day! Fight On!

Matching scrolls make me happy!

Did you notice that the scroll from the beauty and joy set matches the scroll embossing folder? I can't help myself when I find something so simple.  Another thing that I think is when I find a set that I can use for multiple seasons. This set has sentiments and topiarys for so many occasions.

The set is sold in photopolymer and so it makes stamping each piece easy to line up.  For the leaves I tried a rock and roll technique. I stamped the leaves stamp in pear pizzazz and then rolled just the edge of the stamp in old olive. This technique is really fun and can look amazing however, I don't feel like I used colors that were that different because it is hard to see the color difference.

I decided to cut apart the greeting so that I could stagger it around the image. I also added a little dot of the new shimmery crystal effects. I am so excited to have crystal effect back and to have it shiny is an extra added bonus!

Which sets in either the holiday or the annual catalog do you find can make cards for multiple occasions? I would love to hear from you! Thank you for stopping by. If you do not have a demonstrator and would like a holiday catalog let me know and I will mail one out to you!  Have a blessed day and enjoy beauty and joy and let yourself bloom!

Negative and Positive

These little gift cards (3x3) were a breeze when I used the negative and the positive of the leaf from the gather together dies. With a little piece of gather together designer series paper and a few of the sentiments, I have 2 cards ready for gift giving.

This size of card is so nice to add with a little gift. Stampin' Up also sells little 3x3 envelopes which makes them complete.

I sponged the edges of the leaf to add more dimension and then used the cajun ink to stamp the sentiment. When you cut something out with your dies do you keep the positive and the negative? I love to make use of all I can so you can imagine that I do. Let me know which dies you love to use for the positive and negative elements? Thank you for visiting my blog and I would love to hear from you!

If you missed ordering for the first part of the paper pumpkin holiday collection, you have till Nov 10th to order the second part which is tags! You will not want to miss this cute set of gift tags ready to use for the holidays.  Also, gift tags can make really cute cards when attached to a A2 size card.

I have the best stamp club!

My stamp club ladies are the best and I love to make cute little gifts for them! I couldn't resist these adorable little clear boxes filled with candy! These little boxes are a great deal only $7.50 for 16 boxes! The sentiment in the gather together stamp set was just perfect for the way I feel about my friends! I am so glad they are all in my life! Many of them have been with me since my beginning as a stamp demonstrator. They have encouraged and been not only my customers for over 20 years but my best friends. We have all seen each others children grow up, get married and now even some having their own children. Along with those wonderful times we have also gone through some tragic as well. Watching several of our members struggle with cancer and unfortunately one of the members passing away. And most recently one of our members losing her 25 year old daughter! Through it all, our group continues to have sympathy, support, love and care for each other. I couldn't ask for a better group of friends! Each one of them holds a special place in my heart and I pray for them all daily!

As you can tell I have great love for each of them! I know they have all the stamps, paper and accessories they need but they continue to come for the friendships we have all created! The best part is the age range is from 93- 25. What a diverse group of ladies. Each bringing a little something to our group!

I would love to give them all so much more than a little box of candy for all they have given me the last 20 years! I hope they all know I value their friendship and love them all dearly! Thank you for all of you who have given of yourselves to our group. I am feeling so grateful for them!
